Let's begin!Before we advance any further we need to understand what is SEO and why we need it. SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is the process of optimising a website such that when someone will search for a keyword, your website will appear in the first results. GLOSSARY OF TERMS Content: Any information which is on the web. Keywords: Any word or group of words which you search in Google/Yahoo/Bing can be considered as a Keyword. Rank: The position which your website has in a search engine. Keyword: best/best niche/ best niche for/ best niche for 2017 Rank 1 in google's search: engine.nichehacks.com Content: Any content, in our situation page or post, created with the intention to attract visitors through search engine. SEO content: Any content created that is specially optimised in order to get ranked better in Google. With that being said, we can draw the line and tell that a SEO friendly website, is a website specifically modified in order to rank better in a search engine. The SEO training is a training that provides you with all the information you need in order to help you understand better the behaviour of a search engine. So, the SE(Search Engine) is responsible for your website ranking in Google, Yahoo and other search engines. SEO is a vital part of any online businesses. If your website has a great SEO, it will appear in the first results of a search engine and by doing that, it will attract more people. As I mentioned at the beginning of this course, more people = more money. What makes a website rank better in a search engine?
- Quality content.
- Social media engagement.
1) Quality contentThe most important thing when writing content is that your content has to help people. Don't write the content just for the search engine. Think about your visitors too. If you write content just to get ranked in the first pages of google it won't help you too much. People will usually join your page but when they will see that your content will not help them at all, they will leave as fast as they came. Therefore, you must write something useful on your website such that your visitors will be happy and will decide to stay, browse your website and even come back. And in some cases they may even recommend your website to other people. Check once again all the Quality Content tips from the previous lesson! There are a lot of websites that have been around for years, that are in the same niche with me. How can I surpass them in ranking if I just started?
Fresh ContentIn order to give the new websites a chance, SEO's take into account how frequent you create new content. Unfortunately, this is your only free method to surpass the websites that have been around for more years. You can try to pay for ads in order to give yourself the upper advantage, but my advice is to just try and publish new content on a weekly bases. Don't have any ideas on what to write? Go back once again to the Quality Content lesson and scroll down to the section from where to find content ideas.
Duplicate contentIn general is bad for SEO to find duplicate content on your website. The original person who wrote the content will get ranked in the first 5 pages whilst you probably will get ranked in the 15-20 pages. However, you can still surpass in the rankings the original person if you add additional useful information. But what about all those websites who have the same product review? The search engine will usually ignore the text once it figures out that is duplicated and it will be interested only in the unique parts. No, even if you modify the structure they will still figure it out. Technology gets smarter and smarter. Best thing is just to write original content.
Affiliate links(Outsider links)You should try to avoid having many affiliate links in your post. I suggest you have no more than 4 affiliate links for a post of 900 words.
2) KeywordsDefinition. Keywords: Any word or group of words which you search in Google/Yahoo/Bing can be considered as a Keyword. Since that the keywords are the ones that bring organic traffic to your website, I suggest you focus on them. In fact, some of you got here because of a keyword that you searched through Google. This proves how powerful a keyword can really be.
How can you choose a great Keyword?Well, it is not that hard as you might think. Thankfully, there are a few tools that will help you to analyse a Keyword in order for you to not select it blindly. Those tools are named Keyword tools and they evaluate each keyword by the amount of times that it is searched on a search engine(Google,Bing,Yahoo etc.), the number of websites that have the same keyword in their posts(your competitors). Based on that, they show you how great or bad a keyword really is. They also suggest you other combinations of similar keywords that are frequently searched on the search engines. Those aspects will be further discussed and explained below. There are two Keyword tools that I use. Both keyword tools are from Kyle (Co-owner of Wealthy Affiliate). The bad part is that you can only search on a keyword for 30 times for free only. After that they will ask you to pay for the service. The developers have to eat too, right? If you are a WA Premium member, you can have unlimited searches of the WA Keyword Tool) Jaaxy is a wonderful keyword, that is independent from WA. Jaaxy up-ranks the WA Keyword tool, because it has a feature that will allow you to search your website's position based on a keyword. In more simple terms, you will be able to introduce a keyword and see on what page and what positions is your website found. Between them, I would go with Jaaxy. But until you earn some revenue from your website let us focus on the tool included at WA. This is the WA Keyword tool. Since I am a WA premium member I have unlimited access to it. Therefore, I will use it for this example. Glossary of terms Keyword: In this column, it is shown your keyword and similar keywords. Searches: This column represents the number of monthly searches for that specific keyword. Traffic: This column represents the number of traffic your site might get if it's ranked on the first position in the SE. Competition: It represents the number of websites who use the same keyword. Article Power: This is based on a mixture of the strength of other sites and the quantity of them. It is letting you know how well your articles (and pages and posts too) will potentially rank. PPC Power: This is similar to article power, but is referring to any paid adverts you might have, such as using Google AdWords. Dig: If you have found a keyword that looks interesting to you, you can click the "dig" icon to do another search based on this keyword. Searching for "seo content writing" came up with more than 20 results. Clicking "dig" on one of those will come up with more keywords that might stem from that first one. NB, you can't "dig" the first keyword, because that is what you just did.
Alphabet soupAlphabet soup is the free technique which you can use in order to come up with new keywords. Step 1 Go to the search bar of Google/Yahoo/Bing and write a keyword. Now you can add a space and start to write letters of alphabet 1 by 1 and if there is any interesting topic that it captures your eye you can select it. Example: Finally, I got to f and "what is SEO for dummies" retained my attention So when I clicked it, I will get this: Notice 424,000 results? Those are your all the results on Google for that niche. IMPORTANT: When you search like this, it will show you all the results on Google for any word in your keyword. In order to see the true results for your keyword you should search "what is SEO for dummies" with quotes. In that way Google will show you how many competitors of yours, have that exactly combination of words. This method isn't that great. It doesn't show you any info about how many people search it a month. But if you really don't want to spend any single dime then I advise you to try it! You can use this method to combine it with WA Keyword tool. Find an interesting outline and then verify it with the WA Keyword or Jaaxy in order to get the best from it. Note: In the scenario when someone searches without "". In the first page of results, the search engine will try to put the most similar results to the keyword searched. If someone searches a keyword with 6 words and your article contains only 3 of them, your website will probably show up on the second page. So where do we put a keyword? A keyword is usually placed in the:
- Title of the page;
- URL o the page;
- First Paragraph. As I searched through WA blogs I found out that the best is to put it in the first 160 characters of the first paragraph;
- Last Paragraph;
