In today’s tutorial, I am going to show you how to verify your site’s ownership.
There are a few reasons of why you need to verify the site ownership. You can be asked by Google & Bing & Yandex webmaster tools, in order to access to see the stats of your site, or you can be asked by Google Adsense.
In our example today, I am going to show you how you can verify the site for Google Adsense. It is the same procedure for all the products that ask you to verify the site’s ownership!
The first thing you want to do is to copy the code.
Now, get into your site’s dashboard and on the left menu, hover your mouse over Appearance and click on Editor.
From here, go to the right bar where you will see multiple items. Try to look up for header or theme header file. The custom header file is something different. Don’t mess with that! 😀
It won’t look the same like it does to me since those .php files are theme dependent. For those of you who want to get the same theme as I do, it is called Sydney and you get access to it if you an Wealthy Affiliate premium member. 😀
Click on it and the following window will pop up.
Now, if you look pretty close, you will see that I inserted my Google Adsense verification script right after <head>. Please don’t confuse it with </head> since they are two different things.
Paste your code between the <head> and the first <meta> and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Update file.
The next step is to go back on the Google Adsense site or Webmaster Tools or whatever you try to do and click on Verify.
It is the same procedure for everything that asks you to verify your site’s ownership!
Now, whenever you choose another theme, you will have to do those steps again. Since the header file belongs to a theme, when you switch the theme, you will get another header file that will not have this code saved.
Hope my guide was simple to understand and if you have any questions feel free to share them with me in the comment section below!! 😀
