Post Type Switcher

Hey, guys!

Welcome to today’s post!

In this post I will show you how you can change a post to a page in WordPress. I have heard a few questions at Wealthy Affiliate and I decided to create this post in order to show you how to do it in less than 30 seconds.

If you think that a simply copy paste will do the click then you are wrong. The main problem is that if you choose to do this, you won’t be able to keep the comments from your visitors. However, there is a more simpler method to achieve this.

What you are looking for is a plugin called “Post-Type Switcher”. It is very easy to use and it is free on WordPress.

Here’s how you install it:

Step 1

While you are in your website’s dashboard, go to the left menu, hover your mouse over Plugins and click on add new.

Step 2

After you completed that you should get redirected to a page similar to this one. Here you have to search in the search bar on the right corner for “Post-Type Switcher”

I have the one created by  John James Jacoby that has more than 60,000 active installs.  Once you find it, click on install. In your case it will appear an Install button instead of Activate because I already have it installed.

Step 3)

After you installed and activated it, go to any post or page of your website. On the right corner of your screen, a new “Post type” feature will be added that will allow you to choose what type of article you want. Once you chose, click on Update and you’re done.

That is pretty much all you have to do. Remember that if you do this, you will also be able to keep transfer a page to a post while maintaining the comments in the comment section. It also helps you save time, since you will be able to accomplish this in less than 5 seconds. You just have to select the article type you prefer and click on Update.

If you have any other questions or feedback, share them with me in the comment section below!

Remember that sharing is caring ! ^_^

  2. Hello Andrei,

Good Looking Website, by the way. I really liked your post on using the ‘Post Type Switcher’ plugin. Very well explained and easy to understand. I have used it myself. It is really easy to use, and does save you a lot of time, as apposed to copy & pasting everything. One quick question: ‘After I use it, is it ok to deactivate it without changing what it has done?’

Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work.

    1. Hello, CJ.

Yes, there is no problem if you deactivate it. Most of the time I have it deactivated in order to improve my websites’ loading speed. You can take 10 minutes one day a week and to modify all the posts to pages or pages to posts and deactivate it. Your content will be perfectly safe!
