in this post I am going to discuss about the following inquiry: When should you step back and let other people work for your business?
Now, what do I exactly mean by step back?
The way I used to look to a business a year ago was that at some point in time X, could be a year, two years, five years or even ten years, my business will be successful enough such that I will be able to appoint a CEO who will take care of the business while I would spend my time on holidays in Maldive or other exotic places.
At what type of business I am referring? Well, I am usually referring to business in general. It doesn’t matter if it is an online business such as a Youtube Channel/ E-Commerce Website/ Affiliate Marketing Website etc. or a real-world business.
I think that the main point in starting your own business is that you want to escape from the common 9-5 work schedule. Moreover, that you want to work for yourself and that you don’t want to turn in hard cash for your boss, while you get just enough to survive to the next paycheck. Of course, you might argue that not all people earn an average salary. However, let me ask you this. Considering someone who will earn six figures or even more (per year), if he would want right in this second to take 3-4 months off to just go travelling to Africa or even Asia, could he? I bet not! Or he could, but only once. Not on a yearly basis. If you have examples of people who can do this on a yearly basis who work as employees and not CEO/Entrepreneurs, just put me in contact with them… LOL :D.
Now, that we made a small introduction, the main idea is that I used to think like this. I used to think that I will work only for a couple of years on my business and then I will just appoint someone to do what I am doing. However, I think that this is not the case anymore.
You see, once you start working on something and you see it grow more and more, I would say that it is like a child. However, since I have no kids, yet, I would say that it is like a pet. In the beginning, it is just a cub and with time it starts growing bigger and bigger.
As time passes by, it will become more difficult to detach from it. Just imagine that you spend 5 years with your pet and out of nowhere, you would have to give it to a stranger. It is impossible not to worry to what someone else might do to it. It might ruin your business, it might have a different vision from you, it might destroy your employees etc.
Due to the fact that I worked really hard on this website, and I am talking about spending weeks when I worked 16 hours per day, every day, I think that I will never give up on it. Once again, right now I am talking about what will happen in the next 3-4-5-6-10 years. Even though I would most probably appoint a CEO, I think that I would check what my website is doing on a weekly basis.
It is true that the CEO will take the hardest part such as verifying employees and even developing products, but I think that I will decide to continue my visions and to decide what content to develop and so on.
My vision right now is to be able to put together a detailed program to help anyone to earn enough money to not be able to be forced to do what they don’t like ever again. Of course, I will try to make it as detailed as possible.
As a conclusion, if you actually started your business from scratch, you might think that you will be able to develop it for 2-5-6 years and then to step back and enjoy exploring the world while someone else takes over your business. However, that is not true. There are plenty of examples in this world. Just look at Bloomberg or Bill Gates or Zuckerberg etc. Those people could go explore the whole world for their entire life. However, they decided not to. They decided to still work on their business and to continue their visions. I am sure that there are probably millions of other people just like them: Being able to travel for the rest of their life but deciding to work on their businesses.
That’s all for this post guys if you would like to discuss further, feel free to share your opinion in the comment section below :D!
Have a nice day,
